About The Artist

Hello, my name is Wendy McLaughlin from Center Moriches, NY.  My work can be described as Contemporary Regional Realism. I work in various mediums, including acrylic, pastel, and watercolor, capturing local beaches, farm settings, wildlife, and maritime activities. These paintings reflect my deep appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Long Island. I also enjoy creating seasonal art in celebration of holidays, and I gladly accept commissioned work.

I am a self-taught artist who continues to study and paint daily. My art has received international recognition, including awards from Camelback Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ — most recently in May 2025. My work has been featured in World Wide Art (published by Artavita) and Spotlight Contemporary Art Magazine (published by Circle Foundation for the Arts). I was honored to receive a finalist International Achievement Award for my acrylic painting of the Moriches Yacht Club sailboat race.

My paintings have twice appeared on the cover of Dan’s Papers, a lifestyle publication for the Hamptons and Montauk. My piece Baha’s Farm Stand was selected for a juried exhibit at East End Arts in Riverhead, NY, and I’ve had the privilege of exhibiting at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. In May 2025, I was awarded 2nd Place in the South Bay Art Association Annual Membership Show for my painting Spring Truck. My watercolor of seashells is currently on display in a juried exhibit at Brewport Coffee House in Bellport, NY, and my painting Hart’s Cove was accepted into a juried show at the Long Island Aquarium in June 2025.
